Rossett Hall Hotel, Chester

This access statement is intended to provide additional information for all guests who wish to attend the hotel or use its facilities. Recognition has been given to include guests with an impairment, which could include:

Mobility, Sight, Hearing, Speech, Learning disabilities or any other hidden impairment.

Rossett Hall Hotel is located 6 miles equal distance between Chester and Wrexham on the B5445, also known as Chester Road, in the village of Rossett. A regular bus service runs between Chester Railway Station and Wrexham Town Centre approx. every 10 minutes during the day and passes the front of the hotel.

Rossett is on all mobile phone networks and our reception can be contacted on 01244 571000, 24hrs per day, should guests require any assistance upon arrival.

1. Accessibility Main Hotel entrance (approaching and entering)

Entrance from the road is onto a firm and level, tarmac car park. The main hotel entrance is signed internally. Parking bays adjacent to the main pathway have a pebble surface. 2 x designated accessible parking spaces in this area.

Access to the main hotel entrance is signed and is accessed via gently sloping pathway of paving construction, 2 metres wide and approx. 15 metres in length. No obstructions. The path is illuminated at night .

Entrance doors are distinguishable and of sufficient width for wheel chair access. If the doors are closed, a Bell is available within a covered area to alert staff. Handles easy to locate and doors open externally..

The reception desk immediately opposite, firm surface with no obstacles.
Reception area is manned 24 hrs per day. Reception desk 1.5m high clearly recognisable. Area has adequate day and night lighting. Receptionist will attend to guests as required during check in.

2. Accessibility - Oscars Restaurant Entrance

Dedicated accessible parking is available adjacent to the main pathway leading to the external patio area of the restaurant.

The main access to Oscar s restaurant is across gently area from the car park. Note: the patio area contains a seating area and has a gentle gradient toward the main door entrance. During opening hours these doors are usually in the open position but staff members are available to assist if the doors are closed.

The entrance is of sufficient width for wheelchair access.

Customer reception desk immediately opposite the entrance where any requirements of guests can be identified. It is suggested that guests report to this area for seating by restaurant staff.

Oscar s restaurant provides for ground level and upper level dining areas,
Is well lit, air-conditioned and is non-smoking throughout.

Large print menus are available as required.

3. Accessibility Allington Suite Entrance

Access to the Allington suite is via the main hotel entrance or directly from the rear car park via the Allington suite entrance.

From the main hotel entrance, the suite is accessed via a 4-step staircase. A platform lift is available and will be operated for guests by hotel staff.

Access to the Allington Suite is also available via the rear car park signed at the main hotel entrance. Dedicated accessible car parking space is available opposite the Allington suite side entrance. This entrance is suitable for wheelchair users. Access is via a level, paved patio area directly into the suite reception foyer.

Once in the suite, the main room and bar area are all on a level floor with doorways suitable for all users.

4. Accessibility Boydell Suite Entrance

Access to the Boydell suite entrance is via the front of the building from tarmac car park. Dedicated accessible car parking is available immediately opposite this entrance.

A raised 4 platform at the entrance door is accessed via the provision of a mobile ramp when required.

Both the main Boydell suite entrance door and inner door open inwardly into the building and will usually be in the open position when the suite is in use.

5. Manoeuvrability within the building

5.1 Corridors

  • Corridors are approx. 2 metres wide off the reception, Illuminated at all times and have a carpet contrast. It is hotel policy to place guests with impairments on the ground floor.
  • Ground floor bedrooms are linked to Oscar s restaurant and bar via an internal corridor. A 4-step staircase from the reception area to the corridor is accessed if required by a platform lift. All guests can access Oscar s restaurant by via the external Oscars entrance if preferred.
  • Between the above corridor and Oscar s restaurant, a fire door exists which has a 10cm step (overcome by a ramped gradient) but the doorway has a limited width of 33cm.

5.2 Bedrooms

  • Entry to bedrooms is via a card access system all at suitable height. Assistance is available for entry as required on a 24 hr basis.
  • Designated bedrooms are provided for guests in wheelchairs, which include wider entrances to room and bathroom plus a combination of assist bars by the lavatory and bath and one bedrooms has dedicated walk in shower facilities.
  • Fire notices in bedrooms are suitable height and the information contained is available in large print. An emergency evacuation layout plan is available in all bedrooms.
  • Guest in-room information is available in large print.
  • Information in Braille on the area is available from Wrexham TIC the hotel can obtain these in advance.
  • Windows open inward, pull curtains.
  • 21" large TV with remote control and Teletext
  • Large figure radio alarm clocks.
  • Telephone wake up calls can be programmed by reception
  • Assistance dogs are welcome
  • 24 hour room service available

5.3 Lavatories

  • Public lavatories are in the corridor adjacent to Oscars restaurant and in the bar area of the Allington suite. Both facilities are accessible to all guests.
  • Designated unisex abled toilet is available, built to required specifications. Not alarmed.
  • Visual indicators in Braille are placed on the entrance to each entrance door.

5.4 Fire escapes

  • Fire escapes in all areas clearly marked and accessible to all guests.
